![]() The township-hall project is one of three construction efforts undertaken by the township in the past 18 months. “(The combined facility) was a good idea at the time, but the pandemic really taught us some things.” “We learn you just can’t have a space for public meetings in the same place as your first responders and keep everyone safe,” Newell said. Newell said that arrangement not only resulted in overcrowding issues in the growing township, but was a safety issue during the COVID-19 pandemic. The former township hall, on the opposite side of Liberty Road, was built as a combination of township offices and a fire station just over 30 years ago. “The space available will be a tremendous asset to the community,” trustee Scott Donaldson said. Newell also cited the availability of multiple meeting spaces, not only for official township activity, but for residents and groups as well. “Having our operations centralized here will make it much easier for residents to locate and access the services they need,” he said. Trustee chair Bryan Newell called the new facility a benefit to the township’s officials and residents alike. Previously, the township had rented office and meeting space off of Sawmill Parkway, south of Powell Road, near township Fire Station 322. ![]() The township offices had been located in portable units placed at Liberty Park while the new facility was under construction. Located at 7802 Liberty Road, the new township hall is adjacent to the Liberty Township/Powell YMCA. Township officials, joined by residents and other local leaders, held a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new facility Dec. While some finishing touches remain to be added, Liberty Township’s new township hall and administrative-offices building is open and occupied.
